The Egyptians revered chrysocolla as the softer brother of turquoise. They perceived chrysocolla as a white stone that was able to create a more loving relationship between mind and body for its wearer. The chrysocolla was revered by many peoples of antiquity as a stone of hope, which protected its wearer from emotional injuries.

Its name goes back to the Greek: "Amethystos" means something like "not to be drunk", which is why the amethyst was considered a protection against drunkenness for many centuries. The Greeks also believed that if you wear this stone clearly visible on your body, it would protect its owner from bad thoughts and false friends.
